The Star in the Window

During WW II, it was a custom in US for a family who had a son serving in the military to place a star in the front window of their home. But a Gold Star indicated that the son had died in support of his country's cause.

Years ago, Sir Harry Lauder told a touching story abt this custom. He said one night a man was walking down a New York street accompanied by his 5 year old son. The little fellow was interested in the brightly lighted windows of the houses and wanted to know why some houses has a star in the window. The father explained that those families has a son fighting in the war. The child would clap his hands as he saw another star in the window and would cry out. "Look, Daddy, there' another family who gave a son for his country"

At last they came to an empty lot, and a break in the row of houses. Through the gap, a star could be seen shining brightly in the sky. The little lad caught his breath, "Ooh Daddy", he crided, Look at the star in the window of heaven!!0 "God must have given His Son too!"

Yes, there is a star in God's window. Do you realize what he did for you? Out of his love for us, He gave his son.

For God so loved the world, He gave his only son(John 3:16)

The Barber

A person went into a Barber shop to get his hair cut, while the barber was cutting his hair, the barber started complaining abt God. "i believe there's no God. IF He is out there, why are they so many unfortunate things going on? If He exist, There wouldnt be so many orphans. If He exist, there would be people dying of dieases! If He is a loving Father, people wont have to suffer!!"

The person kept quiet because he didnt want to start an arguement. When the barber has finished, the person went out the door and saw an old rugged beggar with a long unkempt hair.

This time the person turn back in the shop and said to the barber with indignation. "There no such thing as a barber!" the barber exclaimed "but i just worked on ur hair!" the person"If there is a barber, Nobody wld have a rugged, unkempt hair". The barber said"Mayb its bkoz they forgot to go to a barber!"

You see, why people suffer when met with trial is because they forgot that there's a He, our heavenly father who wants to love us, protect us, waiting for us to call Him for help.

Our Daddy God loves u & me.

The Man wrote the Thesaurus

i saw in today's newpaper abt Peter Mark Roget, creator of the Thesaurus. here's a summary of the events in his life.

He came from a distinguished British family. His mother suffered severe depression, often accusing the ervants of plotting against her. Both his sister and daughter suffered depression and mental problems. his uncle, British member of parliament Sir Samuel Romilly, known for his opposition to the slave trade and support civil liberties. he slit his own throat while Roget tried to get the razor out of his hands.

After reading this, my first reaction was oh my..What a terrible Life~!! this man's life is ruined, robbed of every ounce of happiness, filled with grief, pain, suffering, woe and bitterness!! his work, the list of words he compiled, just seems so little significance!

Then i carried on reading and discovered, many writers have declared their debt to Roget, including Peter Pan's author. British journalist Simon winchester held Roget in honour for reducing tremendous amount of work that allows writer to look up rather then think it out.

i realised how God can put meaning in one's life even when it all seems hopeless, even when the whole world(including me) thinks your life is over! what fantastic work this man has accomplished in his life that has benefitted millions! WowW!

At first glance, this man's life was cursed! all i could see for a moment was Woes! i couldnt see any blessing!

Blessed is the man who counts his blessings(realise one is blessed of many things daily!), Woe to the man who is blind to his blessings though they come in every form daily.

Do u see your blessing?

Dear Father, thank you for your blessing everyday that comes unconditionally though i do not deserve them but u still give them nontheless through ur grace.

Who is this lady? Part 1

I found myself in a dimly lited corridor filled with photo's of people dancing gracefully in the world of their own. Just then a lady appeared walking slowly along the dark corridor. i thought to myself,"is she the owner of the photos?" i have to talk to her! i called out to her with all my might~! "Wait! Slow DoOOown~~!" my efforts to catch a glimpse of her failed.

i was mesmerized by her display of demeanor ....and her long lustrus hair.

Who is this lady who appears vividly in my dreams? i look forward in seeing her in my dreams again.

How precious is my life and your life?

My life is costly & invaluable~! it cost the life of another in exchange for mine. and its not just my physical life that is redeemed!

To win us and redeem us, my Lord Jesus had given up His own life.
He loved us when there was nothing in us to love, and made our lives precious by the price He paid.

No matter what you have done. no matter the world says of you. your life can be turned back~! its not the end. there is hope my friends.
